The armistice

5/8
Allied counter-offensive
  • It began on August 8, 1918 with the reduction of the Montdidier salient by Franco-British forces. Ludendorff would later write that this was the day of mourning for the German army.

    cent-jours

  • The successive and simultaneous offensives launched by Foch will not stop; it is what will be called the "battle of the hundred days" and the Germans carry out a fight of delay by leaning on their defensive organizations, in particular the "Hindenburg line".

  • On November 11, 1918, the Allies arrived on the Franco-German border of 1871 and the western part of Belgium was liberated.
